Q: How do you drain the radiator on a 69 corvette? I don’t see a drain plug.?
It’s a stock radiator. I heard from someone that the 69 corvettes did not come with a drain plug under the radiator.

A: Remove the bottom hose and open up the filler cap.

Q: repair cost to fix cracked fiberglass on a 69 Corvette Stingray?
What would be an estimate to repair cracks on a 69 Corvette Stingray

A: one arm, and 3/4 of a leg….

honestly… ask around shops in your area, prices change greatly area to area

Q: how many mpg does a 69 corvette have?
ive been on alot of websites trying to find out, but it doesnt show how many mpg a 69 corvette has. im thinking about buying one so if you fing out, please tell!!

A: Mine didn’t get much more than 12.

Q: Where can I find information on the history of the ‘69 corvette 427 stingray?

A: http://www.vetteweb.com/features/vet_0311_1969_corvette_stingray_zl1/index.html

Q: what was the original transmition used with the 350 motor in the 69 corvette ?

A: I THINK the turbo-hydro 350 was the (auto) tranny of choice by then. If not, it was the two speed powerglide. A four speed manual known as the “muncie” or Borg Warner was also available.

Here is some info I found

L36 427 cu. in. 390hp Engine 10,531 (27.17%) $221
L46 350 cu. in. 350hp Engine 12,846 (33.14%) $132
M40 Turbo Hydra-Matic Automatic Transmission 8,161 (21.05%) $222

Q: 69 corvette coolant overflow tank hose question?
There is a hose connecting the coolant reservoir and the water pump. What is this hose called? Where can I buy one. I checked most of the common vette part stores like ecklers and zips.

A: drain about a gallon of coolant out, take off the hose, then take it to any average auto store, (auto parts, ol reileys). They’ll know what you need when they see it. cause the names really dont matter, its the shape.

Q: Chevrolet corvette 69 how much?
How much should i expect to pay for a Chevrolet Corvette, the 69 one not the other?

A: Big block car?4 speed car?Does it have a/c?There are alot of things that will make the value go up…Even the color of the car and interior…As much as 100,000.00 and as little as 4500.00…

Q: what is the value of a 69 stingray corvette in fair condition?

A: I’m not sure exactly, but that’s a fairly valuable car. There are Corvette specific price guides out there that should give you a good idea. Also look for similar cars in Hemmings.

Q: does a 69 Corvette rearend take the same ring gear as a solid rearend.?
I have a 69 Vette rear end and I want to change the gear ratio, will gears or pumpkin from a solid axle care work

A: llololololol u sed 69

Q: 69 big block (427) corvette exhaust manifold?
I am looking for a pair of good pair of stock exhaust manifolds for my 69 big block (427) corvette.
I dont care about original GM parts.

Does anyone know of any cheap yet reliable reproduction manifolds (who sells them)?

A: any big block exhaust manifolds will work on that.

Q: is there a way i can get a registration for a 69 corvette?car sat 27 yrs withouth touching. owner dissappeared
the car was last registered in 1980.car was given to me by this guy that told me that his brother owned the car but abandoned it 27 years ago. is there a way i can obtained ownership to this car?
Guys cars before ‘72 dont come with titles, anyoe else ?

A: You need a bill of sale or title to prove ownership…or your going to have problems registering it.

Titles were issued for pre 72 vehicles…I have 2.

Sounds bogus if you ask me…no one in their right mind GIVES someone a 69 vette. Ask him to GIVE you a bill of sale too. You can register it with that. Then apply for a lost title from DMV.

Q: I am looking at maybe getting a 69 vette or maybe an 80’s/early 90s Corvette.Does anyone have any advice?
What would the upkeep cost look like and would it be worth it to go for the later model vette???

A: Dodgeman is trying to be funny (since I know he knows better) – there was no 83 Corvette sold to the public. The C3 ended in model year 1982, and the C4 started in model year 1984.

The early C3’s (68+) are probably the most collectible (best investment) within the range you’ve established, but the the C4’s after 84 are better cars. 1984 was a bad Corvette year, it had that crappy “cross fire” fuel injection and that 4+3 tranny, so it wasn’t very fast and also rode poorly. In 85, the C4 had many improvements, multi port injection, improved suspension.

Personally – I’d go for a C4, the newer (and lowest miles), the better, until I reached my budget.

Do you want a good investment, or the better driver?

Q: where do horse shoe clips go on 69 corvette rear brakes?
parking brakes

A: where the parking brake lever goes through the shoe, there is a groove in that round part. You’ll have to bend the horse shoe after you get it put together right.

Q: I have a 69 camero with a t-1 corvette motor and it’s not running,needs computerized.?
I want to know if $15,000 is too much?

A: Is the fuel system carb or fuel injected
if carb your fine, check ignition system for not starting
If fuel injected in any sort you need a ecm to run fuel delivery

Q: How hard/expensive would it be to put together a 69 C3 Corvette? And what if it was a semi-replica?
I saw a C3 Corvette today and while I’ve always liked the car the flipups (which I’ve always doubted to be good-looking) are incredible (they sort of look like mini-rally lights and their excessively mechanical look compliments the futuristic exterior). It got me thinking – how much would it cost to restore a C3, or build a replica with benefits (ie: better suspension, maybe a non-steel body, lighter/more modern engine and/or possibly a rotary)?
There are one or two C3 bodies near me, but they’re in unknown – and probably bad – shape. Also, if I’d build this semi-replica, I wouldn’t have to feel guilty for essentially destroying a 70s car for my own sake.
So basically:
-How much would it cost?
-How hard would it be?
These questions, of course, being asked for this semi-replica project, and then also for a restoration project.
My father has an RX-7 and lately I’ve been accompanying him during his installations of some somewhat minor parts (bought a new intercooler, for example). I am going to university to begin earning a bachelor of Technology this fall – this might or might not help.
Thanks for the quick responses.
Asylum Driver – Good news that the body’s fibreglass – means it shouldn’t deteriorate over time, right? (I know it’ll probably be gutted outside of that though)
And yes, I understand that the rotary would be a blasphemy but as I see it, the car was supposed to be the American sports car, and the car has come with numerous engines, so what’s the problem with getting an engine that’ll help it do what it was designed for? I don’t see how it’s worse than, say, swapping the engine and it up for dragging?
I still probably wouldn’t do it, also considering that rotaries are expensive – but I’d do my best to look for a good-quality modern engine instead of blowing who knows how much finding a like-old carburetor setup. I understand it’s a shame for a car like this to become a non-perfect restoration, but not much I could do.
Wii_saint – Well, I’ve seen at least one on the internet that made replica frames. And yes, the 69 body is awesome
As a side note, a semi-restoration would focus on making the Vette more maneuverable. An example would be an independent rear axle – but that, my father was saying, would probably require fabrication (you could start with one from another car, and then try to fit it in the frame). I think I need to start some sort of theory thread on a Corvette forum.

A: Just go buy a beat up 69 and restore it. Don’t try to clone the car. There are plenty of them out there. And the sources for parts are pretty much unlimited. You will have the real thing. You can spend as much or as little as you want. If you want a driver, you will spend less than if you want a show car. The work is not difficult if you have mechanical skills, or people you know who do. Join your local Corvette club, and meet people. Also there are some good forums on the internet for other sources of information.

A great and must read article: volkswagen beetle for sale

Q: VW beetle?
I am thinking about buying a used VW Beetle, 2003-2006 with low mileage, convertible. Can anyone share their opinions on these cars? How is the gas mileage? We need a second car, I have an Aztek and a DEAD Ford Explorer. Comments? Thoughts? Thanks!

A: I have turbo 2003 yellow beetle, and I absolutely love it! I was tempted to get the convertible at first, but I decided against it because:
1) It has a 2 out of 5 star safety rating. It’s a small car, so if you replace the dome (which absorbs the most impact like a school bus dome) with fabric, it really doesn’t help you too much!
2) The gas mileage is not as good

Overall the user ratings for the VW convertible have been relatively good, and the only problem is a minor window problem.
Also, consider that it’s still a german car, so matienance is more expensive for EVERYTHING.
I would consider getting the regular beetle as well. I didn’t think I would ever get the regular, but I love him! He’s my baby! Also think about getting the regular, turbo, or diesel. Turbo definitely takes more gas, but boy is it fun! It’s a classic/fun car designed for Porsche. But however, if you go the convertible route, that’s fun as well!

Q: VW Beetle?
Currently I have a 89 honda civic, and its on its last limbs, i am thinking of getting a VW Beetle(Ive always wanted one), used…..

any insights on this car?? is it a good car??

A: If you can afford the upkeep of a foreign made car…go for it.
They do cost a little more for preventative maintenance.
I have a VW Jetta TDI Wagon, 2005 model, bought new.
Love it, but I did NOT buy it used, didn’t want someone else’s used headache.
Drove a beetle once, not bad, fuel economy average for size and all.
Check out crash ratings and etc. before finalizing your decision. Check insurance rates.
I believe side crash impact ratings are lower on the Beetle.
Be careful, take your time and test drive, check out information thoroughly about the Beetle models, then decide.

Q: vw beetle?
please help me find an automatic blue or green beetle somewhere in colorado for less that $7,500 i’ve looked everywhere and i’ve only found one on craigslist with way to many miles. pleaaaase and thanks!
New. sorry =]

A: You MAY find a VW Bug in this price range but the upkeep will bust your budget. The Bugs need specialized care at the dealership. I have a 2002 and got some water in my gas and spent $900 getting the car fixed. This is the first car I’ve ever seen that is set up so you cannot change your own oil. The battery STARTS at $200. No standard part fits the Beetle, it takes an odd tire size, premium oil and if you get a TURBO bug it takes PREMIUM gas and will kill you at the gas pump.
All and all I love my bug, it’s adorable. But it’s expensive and I don’t know if I had to do it all over again if I would get a VW Bug.

Q: Is a VW Beetle Convertible suitable for me and my 2 year old?
I really want a VW Beetle convertible for me and my Daughter. Has any one had a convertible and a small child. Do you recommend it? What r the pros and cons….
I currently drive a Chevy Alanche, its just me, my daughter and mys husband, he has his own toy car and i think maybe the beetle would be nice for me and my daughter for late summer evening rides.

A: I’ve actually found the Beetles to be pretty roomy on the inside (more space than a mini for sure). if you’re taking a booster seat in and out of the car a lot the two door aspect might be a pain but if you leave it in it’d be fine, plus soon enough she’ll be sitting in a normal seat anyway so it’d be a temporary situation.

They’re very safe cars though and if you maintain it it’ll run very well for a while.

They have a decent amount of space in the trunk. I wouldn’t have problem fitting all my groceries in it.

Q: How do you turn a vw beetle into an automatic and if there is a certain part then what would that be?
I have a 71 vw beetle.
Not too fond of driving a stick.
I have a 71 vw beetle.
Im not too into the whole stickshift thing.
Along with my question…How much would converting it approximately be?

A: Yes it is possible and not too difficult but it would be expensive.

If you do your sums correctly you will find it cheaper to sell the car and buy an auto rather than carrying out the conversion.

You probably will find info on this topic on the following web site

http://www.thesamba.com/vw/

Q: What is the best way to soundproof a classic vw beetle?
I have a 1971 vw beetle. It has been restored by the last owner and there seems to be little soundproofing in the engine bay and there is not much on the inside. Can anyone recommend sites/give advice?

A: Hit up your local body shop supply joint for “Q-Pads”. They’re expensive, but they work great. Another cheaper suggestion is rubberized undercoating.
In my last Bug, I hosed down the firewall with undercoat, put on a layer of pads, then covered them with aluminum heat matting for a nice finished look. I also put pads on the inside, under the rug lining the storage bay behind the rear seat. Get under the seat as well. Undercoat inside the doors and rear side panels behind the interior panels. Hose down under the car too. Not just the floorboards, but under the trunk, fuel tank & all 4 fenders. Upgrade the carpets with some sort of thin pad (woven or foam) beneath. A new muffler couldn’t hurt. Make sure your tailpipes are correctly adjusted (No, I’m not kidding. Adjusting them to the correct length reduces noise & sets the correct amount of back pressure).
Spray glue foam pad to the roof panel between it & the headliner. Shoot spray foam (Great Stuff) into the hollow rocker panels & roof ribs. If you do all this, you’ll add probably 30 pounds to the car, but it’ll be a lot quieter.
Remember: these cars (for all the amazing engineering that went into them) are basically just tin cans. They were designed & built to be inexpensive, not quiet & luxurious. Lots of hollow spaces. The slightest chirp or rattle gets amplified inside them.

Q: 2005 VW Beetle – How can I get rid of the seatbelt warning?
The seatbelt warning sound in the 2005 VW Beetle is the most annoying thing I have ever heard! It even comes on while the car is OFF! I have searched forums for anyone who may know how to stop this warning sound, or at least muffle it, and I have yet to find an answer. Any answers, suggestions or references will be greatly appreciated.

A: If you mean the seatbelt chime do as one of the other guys told you by disconnecting the battery but in addition, check all fuses including engine fuses but I doubt its that. Also get someone to scan your computer with an obd 2 or i believe its a CAN scanner cable now connected to a computer scanner or get the VW dealer to scan it or if you know somebody that has VAG COM software ask them to run diagnostics and then ask them to turn off the seatbelt chime..YES ITS POSSIBLE ..good luck!
Oh and to the guy above the chime is in the dash not in the speaker..don’t ask why or how but its just so.

Q: How do I convert a VW beetle from single circuit master cylinder to dual circuit?
How do I convert a 61 VW Beetle from single circuit master cylinder to dual circuit? I don’t understand the residual vs non-residual type? Is it a straight up swap of the master cylinder? I am putting in new metal lines and am told that a dual circuit is a good idea?

Many thanks

A: you might want to go to a wrecking yard an see how it was done on the super beetle. I believe there is more to it than just a master cylinder swap- proportioning valve comes to mind.

Q: How do you differentiate a german mad vw bug from a mexican made vw beetle?
I want to buy a vw beetle but I wanted a german made one. pls help me to identify it.

A: Most early VWs you find will be German made. Mexican beetles maintained the 58-64 body style up to 1970, so that should be a dead giveaway. Although bugs were made in Mexico up to recent years, you won’t find any in the US after 1979 (i believe), and they cannot be registered because of safety regulations.

Q: Can a convertable part of a VW beetle be changed of painted?
How much would it cost?
Also how much would it cost to get a nice paint job for a VW beetle?

A: £450 for the roof

my respray on my karmann ghia is £2000

Q: How many miles does a typical VW Beetle maintain?
I’m looking for a VW New Beetle(not the classic) and I’m hoping to find a used one that will last me through my last year of high school and college. And I need to know how many miles a Beetle’s engine can take before needing serious work?

A: It’s kind of luck of the draw. If you can find a diesel one, the engine will last longer. I have a diesel Jetta (same engine as the diesel Beetle) with 172,000 miles on it and it runs fine. And the increased mpg (I’m getting 47 on the highway) will way more than compensate for the slightly higher cost of diesel fuel and the extra cost of the car compared to a gas one.

But, lots of little stuff breaks on VWs. Things like the sensors to tell if a door or the trunk is open, etc. It’s pretty annoying, because it seems like there’s always *something* minor wrong. I’m not basing this off of just my own experience – I have 5 friends with VWs (4 of them also have diesels) and I read www.tdiclub.com a fair bit.

Q: What is the best laptop mount for the new VW Beetle?
I need to mount my laptop (Panasonic toughbook) in the new VW Beetle, however I haven’t been able to find one that is just right for my needs. I tried the new Ram Mount with the ball and the legs are good and everything else on it is find except the ball. It slips way too often. Anyone have something better? What do PSE&G or the police cars use?

A: Try Jottodesk.com
I got the universal mount. Works great and VERY stable and strong.

Q: How do you tell the year model on a vw beetle?
I have just recently bought a vw beetle with a monza body kit fibreglass gaurds etc and it has no compliance plate and the chassis number is 5425107 and it is a type 2 chassis if you could help me in ths matter it would be greatly appreciated

A: The third digit indicated year yours could possibley be a 1952==1962==1972 would need to see vehicle to know which one. If it has reduction gears that rules out 1972.
Also a beetle is a type one vehicle. Type 2 is bus truck camper or van. However a typee 2 motor is basically the same as type 1.

Q: 1969 vw beetle, 45,000 original miles and in good condition. How much is it worth?
1969 VW Beetle, 45,000 original miles and in good condition. How much is it worth?

A: I don’t know about the mileage unless you can document it, since a 40 year old car would likely have had the spedo turn over more then a couple of times. Even in storage, there are parts of the bug that simply wear out by exposure (like rubber pieces, dashboards, headliners, etc.. )

So lets just say that it is a 69 bug in very excellent condition.

Assuming no rust.. good paint no rust…good motor… no rust… good transmission.. no rust … good interior and a good floor pan (no holes under the battery) oh, and in case I forgot to mention it , no rust…

Show cars of that vintage bring in between $12,000 and $14,000 (use eBay and search for SOLD vw bugs to get a good idea),

Extremely Good but daily driver bugs bring at least $5,000 up to about $8 unless you have a convertible in which case add about $2500 to the top end.

Hope that helps…

Q: Is it possible to switch a VW Beetle (Old) from manual to automatic? How much would it cost?
I want to buy a VW Beetle, one of the ones from the late 60s and early 70s but I am a little worried about driving an automatic car. If it is possible I still don’t think I would be able to pay a fortune to have it switched. Thanks

A: Tehnically, it is possible…so you could…but it would require enough custom work that Bill Gates would have to work out a payment play.

A great and must read article: subaru wrx for sale

Q: What and why exactly causes the the stock wrx intercooler y pipe to split or crack?
I heard WRX’s have a bad history of having their stock IC y-pipe split or crack under boost. What exactly and why does it do that? Are the stock WRX’s not meant to be boosted if thats the case? Sorry for the noob question. I new to cars. Thanks for your help!

A: Well you either heard wrong or whoever told you over exaggerated the fact. It does happen but it’s not something that I would call a common issue. They are made of a sort of a soft plastic and things like age and the climate where the car spends it’s days can cause them to weaken and crack. It doesn’t take much of an opening to effect boost. I live in the north west and put a total of about 200,000 miles on 3 WRX’s and never had the issue. But I suppose in places like Arizona, it could be an issue. Some silicone hoses would fix it easily and not cost a whole lot.

Q: What’s the difference between the 05 subaru wrx and the 05 sti?
What are the differences between the two? And what needs to be done to the body of the wrx to make it look as good as the sti?
This will be my first car so I want it to look great and have average power, so I know it would be a little ricer like but I dont need any more power I just want it to look better. And I can’t afford the sti..

A: STI has 300hp/tq, where the WRX has around 227hp/217lb-ft tq for that year. The STI is also completely loaded up in the handling and stopping section, with its stiffer suspension, and huge brembo brake kit. The STI is just a lot more track ready version of the WRX. Theirs endless possibilities to make an 05 WRX look just as good or better then an 05 STI. you just have to search on websites, and find exterior mods that suit your needs. Lowering springs or coilovers would be my first exterior mod though, followed by a nice set of wheels. Also, if you can find an 06 WRX around the same price, I would think about getting that. The 06 is were they introduced the 2.5l to the WRX, which in turn increased hp to 230 and tq to 235. The 2.5 will also come in handy if you plan on upgrading your turbo, as it will give you a wider range of turbos to choose from without having to do an engine swap.

Q: Where is the best insurance company to insure a subaru wrx turbo?
Im 40 years old and am going to be buying a subaru wrx turbo ,can anyone suggest a good insurance company and how much roughly would it be to insure it fully comp .THANKS .

A: http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/insurance/compare-cheap-car-insurance

They show you a method to search just about every insurer.

I’ve just gone with Swiftcover. Cheap *and* online.

Q: What car should I get 350z or subaru wrx sti?
I am 16 years old and my dad bought a 2004 350z. I really had no influence on this buy. I was looking at 2005 subaru wrx sti. I dont know which to get because I like the 350z but it only has 2 seats while the wrx has 5. Please tell me which one you would choose, and the + and – of each car.

A: depends what youre looking for…

the STI is faster, has AWD for better handling… smaller engine but with a turbo which has a few advantages… like if youre not making boost (turbo doesnt kick in till like 2500 rpms) youll be using less gas (but good luck trying NOT to go fast in that car)… like you said seats 5, 4 doors etc etc

the 350 is a sexy looking car… lower, lighter, smaller… powerful v6, nice interior and sound system (that bose is amazing)…

like i said it all depends on what youre looking for.. if you want the looks and the fun of RWD go for the 350

if you want the rally type experience: fast, fun, challenging… go with the STI.. and as far as perfomance mods go, it’ll be easier to make the STI faster because its already turbo’d… you want more power out the 350, the largest gains in HP will come from forced induction

now ive got to do the responsible thing and give you a little pep talk… first off youre only 16 and im 90% sure you wont be paying for this car all by yourself… if i were you id get a beater car that you can learn to drive on (and not get too upset when you damage it)… both the cars youre looking at are beasts and take experience to drive, so that should probably be your first priority

Q: Is it easy to take a turbo off a subaru wrx?
im asking this because i might get a 97′ subaru wrx wagon.Due to victorian laws i cant drive it with a turbo, so is it easy to take it off? and if i do, do i have to take the intercooler off as well?

Also, would this be expensive or a relatively cheap job?

A: You must be in the UK. I suspect it might be a difficult task due to the fact that you’d have to set up the engine to run without the turbo. I would find a very skilled mechanic or take it to a Subaru dealer.

Q: how much would i cost to rebuild a 2007 subaru wrx sti engine?
I’m planning on owning a 2007 subaru wrx or an sti. How much is maintenance with moderate driving not racing or pushing the car to hard, i don’t drive to crazy. My question and my real answer i’m looking for is how much if it happened would a engine rebuild price be and also transmission rebuild.

A: For that car if you had to rebuild the engine and transmission together at once the car would be effectively totaled. Rebuilds on turbocharged boxer engines are outrageously expensive, and when you add in a 4 wheel drive transmission you’d be looking at a total of around $12,000 US.

Q: Is it possible to upgrade a wrx to a sti?
Engine, brakes all that. But keep the automatic transmission of the wrx?
Thanks to those that actually had answers! For 1, I can drive a stick. I just prefer the 6spd in the 05 sti. If there were a better automatic, like a 5eat or something, I would get that. I just prefer the 02 wrx to be an auto and thought about increasing it’s displacement.

A: The 4EAT auto’s in the WRX’s aren’t great but they are strong so they can handle the power of an STI engine easily. Probably quite a bit more. As far as actually switching to an STI engine and ECU, that’s a good question. Not sure if the STI ECU will work with the TCU for the auto tranny. Might be easier to just look to just look to switching out the short block to a 2.5liter and mod from there to add some power. Wiring in an STI ECU and motor is a lot of work when you can make similar power with your current set up. Brakes and wheels will have to be 5X100 bolt pattern which only came on the 04 STI’s here in the US so they will take some time to track down. Don’t worry so much about making it an STI because that’s just a company name. You can make your car pretty quick, just read up on http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/ to learn what options you have and maybe find a good tuner in your area on there to help you reach your goals.

Q: How much monthly would it cost me to lease a 2008 subaru impreza wrx?
Well im highly considering leasing a 2008 subaru impreza wrx for 3 or 4 years. With around 2 thousand down on the car how much do you think I will have to pay monthly lets say if i lease it for 3 years or maybe 4 years.

A: Your best bet is to go to a dealer and ask. If they have lease offerings going on they will tell you the exact amount you have to pay. Leases are tricky because the terms are usually set by the lender. You can’t just go in and say I have this much and only want to pay this much like with a loan.

Q: What kind of exhaust should i get for my wrx?
Hey, i just a 07 Limited Wrx Urban gray. What kind of exhaust should i get? I was thinking about the megan racing turbo cat back or the greddy evo2. I need something not too loud but sounds sexy. What other upgrades do u recommend?

A: The Megan unit is pretty nice for the price but they are loud. Stick with the Greddy for a nice low rumble that is not too loud. And don’t get a turbo back unless you get tuned for it. You will get boost creep and could blow your motor if you go full throttle on a hot day. As far as other mods, it depends on how far you want to go. I would work on suspension to get that out of the way while you get used to the power you have. Join and research NASIOC.com in the mean time.

Q: What is the difference between both 2006 wrx tr and Wrx ?
I was wondering what was the difference is. I know the wr tr meens tuner ready but what the difference between the tuner ready edition than the regular 2006 wrx. Looks like they both have the same 2.5l engine and td04 turbo chargers.

A: The difference is that the TR comes with less. The TR has cheaper seats that arent as nice as the WRX seats. Further it comes with a lesser stereo unlike the 6disc changer in the WRX and also it doesnt have fog lights or a spoiler like the WRX. I think thats about it though.

Q: What oil should I use in a 1997 Subaru WRX engine?
I have a 1997 Subaru WRX, not sure if it is a STi, and don’t know what oil to use! I don’t mind on what brand it is, just want to know what grade is best!
It has a ZeroSport computer from Japan in it, and runs 18 pound boost. Does that make any difference?

A: Mobil 1 is the best! It is expensive but well worth it. You get better gas mileage and more performance out of your car. A win win is what I say.

use man. req. like 5/20 or 5w/30 they sell for all makes

Q: SUBARU WRX WAGON 2002, where can I buy affordable quality parts? and what should I start with? ?
Are there any good websites as well pertaining to the wrx wagon?
Im looking to build a sleeper.

A: You could get an entire package from one of the companies below, or build in stages. It depends on how fast you want to go and how much you want to spend. I would recommend an uppipe first.

Q: Who knows if the 2009 Subaru WRX has faulty engine builds and is prone to engine failure?
I’ve been looking at getting a 2009 Subaru WRX wagon due to its performance and winter capabilities. However, thus far over 50 people on the NASIOC site have reported engine failures; Subaru has consequently been replacing the entire turbo engine.

Recent posts suggest the faulty engines are from earlier build dates of 8/08 to 9/08. Can anyone confirm this?

Subaru has denied knowing anything of this sort.

A: There were some failures but not that many. You can’t go by what is said on NASIOC. Too many kids on there spreading shit. And yes it was in the tune. Subaru recently has been doing some funny things with the tuning. The 08 STI has the same problem too as well as the 07 STI. Nothing wrong with the build it self. Some people were just beating on the engine too much and it was causing problems but there have been service bulletins about it and as far as I know, it’s not an issue anymore. Just ask if the car you are looking at either has a build date after the specified time or has had a reflash done to fix any problems. It should say in the thread on NASIOC what months were bad. Thing you need to know is, the new WRX’s have been selling pretty well but you never hear people posting about having no problems. Only people who have had a problem post and it spreads and looks like an epidemic. And it’s not that the dealer you spoke to is in denial. It’s very possible that they have never had one brought in for the problem. Like I said, the percent of failures compared to the units sold is very small.

Q: What is the offset for the wheels on a 2002 Subaru Impreza WRX Wagon?
I own a 2002 Subaru WRX Wagon and I think it’s time for a new set of wheels. I need to know what the offset is so I can buy me a new set. Also, would rims with an offset of 42 mm fit (securely) on my car? Thanks.

A: I believe the offset is 55mm. Check out tire rack to shop for wheels. They will list the offset to give you an idea of what will fit properly. 42mm may be pushing it, I see many at 48 or 50mm.

Q: What does it take to convert a Subaru Wrx to natural gas?
I have an 03 Subaru WRX and I need to know what parts I need, how much they cost, and if i can figure out how to do it myself to convert my vehicle to natural gas.

A: go to your natural gas outlet and tell them for what car

A great and must read article: honda civic

Q: honda civics?
does anyone kno where to find cheep honda civics? like 3000 or less? and i already kno craigslist

A: try ebay

or a local dealer

Q: Honda Civics?
Do any 08 Honda Civics come with a larger than 4 cylinder engine? And if anyone has driven one with a 4 cylinder are they slow starters?

A: Nope, all civics are 4 cylinders.

The LX and DX models are slowest of all, especially with an automatic transmission.

The EX/Si are the faster ones of the series, with VTEC motors and a little more torque than the base models

But all still 4 cylinders.

Q: Is it true that Honda Civics are easy to break into?
I am getting a car soon and my family and I found a good deal on a Honda Civic. I do not mind Honda Civics and they drive well, but my boyfriend told me that Honda Civics are a bad choice because anybody can break into them and steal them. Is this true? I live in a pretty safe neighborhood, but my college is located in an area that isn’t dangerous, but not that safe either. What are the risks of having a Honda Civic? How likely is it that somebody can break into a Honda Civic and steal it?

A: i have had a civic for 2 years, it was done up with rims & a paint job, sunroof, exhaust ect..
never has anybody tried to break into my car! i leave it in side streets when i go shopping in dark, shopping centre parking, the city ecttt

Q: what other year honda civics front passanger windows can u use?
we need a front passanger window for a 95 honda civic 2 door but we cant find the car at the junk yard. what other honda civics windows can we use?

A: pretty sure just 92-95 2 door.

Q: How do people win races with Honda Civics?
Nothing against Honda. I know they’re great cars… but the honda civics only get about 100 horsepower (I know the new ones get more, but I usually see people with the older ones)

I know you can soup em up and stuff. But I even know people that win races with them without hardly doing any mods. And most new normal commuter cars out there will get a few hundred horsepower.

Is there something else other than horsepower I should be taking into account?

A: If its like auto cross race’s that they are winning, it’s because they handle well around corners and they don’t loose traction as easily due to not having any torque.

For drag races, its mostly due to the lightness of the car. In some case’s, a simple head swap can give you an extra 17-35hp, depending how invloved you get with it (adjustable cams and chipped ecu). Throw a stage 2 or 3 cam on top of that and you get another 20hp or so.

So you can go from 102hp stock on a 92-95 civic with a d15b7 to around 150+ with not a lot of work and in a lot of case’s less than $1,000.

Even with a blown head gasket and extra crap in my Civic, I can still get a 9 second 0-60. Car has 205,000 miles too. It’s actually quite amazing how well they hold up.

-Chris

Q: Honda civics?
when people say you lost low end power, does that mean, is it in all the gears or what, i realy dont know bout cars. lol

A: Power on the low end is power from a standing or slow start, like when you are just moving off or going slow

Q: What are some common/occasional mechanical problems with Honda Civics?
For 2002-2005 versions, what are some of the re-occuring mechanical issues for Honda Civics? Where are they in terms of reliability when compared to other economy cars like the Cobalt and Focus.

A: nothing i know of with mind all i did was the norm maintence and never had any problems

Q: How long do Honda civics last?
I am buying a car soon and i found a car i liked and its a Honda Civic EX 1997 with 180,000 Miles. I heard that cars die at certain amount of mileage so anyone know what mileage do Honda Civics die at? anyone know?

A: Hondas you can drive for everr. I have a honda accord with about 190,000 miles and it still runs great.
Just make sure you change the oil on time and you will be fine. You can keep that car for over 250.000 miles. Im sure

Q: A question about the quality of newer Honda Civics?
Are the latest generation of Honda Civics (2006 and later in this case) as durable and dependable as Civics from years past granted, of course, regular maintenance and a lot of tlc is involved?

A: I never had one so I cant say. But if your looking into tuning, the older versions are easier

Q: Are honda civics bad cars for a young driver?
I like honda civics (looking at early 1990’s models) but i am told that they are not good because
1. Parts are expensive
2. Expensive to service
3. Very commonly stolen car

Are these reasons true?
i mean a young driver who doesn’t have much money
ok
My point is are they expensive to maintain compared to other cars with similar fuel efficencies

A: parts aren’t that expensive, considering the large aftermarket out there for civic. ebay is great,. servicing will depend on what’s wrong with it, regular maintenance can be done by you, the driver. and depending on where you live, you might want to check the statistics for cars stolen in your area.

Q: How much do Honda Civics cost in Indiana?
Planning to come home soon (my home is in Elkhart, Indiana)…and Looking for a car, I was wondering how much Honda Civics cost in Indiana, Im talking about the 1992-1995 ones, The EG Civics, i prefer Hatchbacks…Was just wondering how much would they cost there for the car in a good condition?

Reasons why I would like a Civic is of fuel efficiency they have, and plus they are okay…

Hatchbacks

A: look around at your local conveniance stores for an Indiana Auto Car and Truck magazine. great place to start. also do a yahoo auto search and give your location, itll then list all cars in your local area that are for sale.

Q: What’s the difference between the eg hg or ej Honda civics ex?
ibhav a Honda 1994 Honda ciivc and when I’m shopping online foe parts it says it will fit the eg’s even though I selected the right model and year. will they fit?my first vin.# are 2hgej. What do these mean?

A: EG/ HG/ EJ are chasis codes…
EG is 1992-1995 hatchbacks
EJ is 1996-2000 sedans

never heard of HG tho.

many parts are interchangable on honda cars (honda/ acura). they share many of the same motors and many parts are motor specific. so it is not uncommon to find an aftermarket part that will work on a few different models.

Q: What is the best online forum for Honda Civics?
I have a honda civic and want to join a decent forum. What is the best one?

A: Honda-Tech.com – Best
nwp4life.com – Second Best
wiredonhonda.com – Thrid best
SoCalHonda.com – Fourth
Idk any other ones. I think Honda-Tech is the best though.

Q: how much mileage on average can honda civics last?
whats the highest mileage you have heard of for a honda civic?

A: 90 civic w/ 278,000 thats when it begain to smoke.Replaced rings, bearings valve job and she getting close to 350,000 Believe it or not

Q: what are the differences between the 2006-2008 models of honda civics to the 2009 model?
I want a 2009 Honda Civic Coupe (baby blue), but i don’t know how much they go for nowadays to start. My main question though is what does the 2009 model have that the 2006, 2007, and 2008, don’t have? Thanks!

A: Here’s a list of the (few) differences. http://www.motortrend.com/photo_gallery/112_0808_2009_honda_civic_comparison_gallery/index.html

Q: Wondering what is a resonable price on a 2004 Jeep grand cherokee and if they are good vehicles??
I am thinking about buying a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee it is a special edition 4WD, it has 46,000 miles on it, 6cylinder, 4.0L engine, has everything leather seats, sunroof heated seats. Was Just wondering on more opionions on Jeep Cherokee and if this seems like a resonable price before really considering it. My mother has a 1987 Jeep Cherokee and it has over 200,000 miles on it runs great, but that can just be a lucky one out of the bunch. Please tell me what you think it will help me out alot Thank You!!!
By the way I forgot to say how much they was offering 16,599.00…

A: You didn’t mention the asking price. I’m sure you’ve checked the blue book. As for the vehicle, it’s the best damn vehicle I ever bought. It’s got the 4.0L straight six. That engine has been around for over 50 years (carburated in the old days). It’s essentially the same as the old Chevy six.

As for performance, if my front tires touched it before my bumper, that car would climb it. I chased elk thru the Rockies with my Wagoneer.

BTW, I still have my ‘89 Wagoneer. It’s beat up, but it runs like new. It’s got over 300,000 miles and I’d still drive it to the west coast (I have several times) from N Y.

Buy it and enjoy. And don’t be afraid to do the back woods.

Q: what is the difference between jeep cherokee and the jeep grand cherokee?
i have heard that the regular cherokee is better than the jeep grand cherokee and I am just wondering why for buying purposes. THANKS!

A: The regular Cherokee was a mid-size suv. Grand Cherokee is a full size vehicle. Not sure which year but they did away with the regular Cherokee a few years ago and started making the Jeep Liberty ( I think around 2001-2002, but not sure)

Q: 2001 Grand Jeep Cherokee has clicking sound near inside fuse box without trying to start it.?
I have a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee that occasionally will click when the car is turned off and the keys are NOT in the ignition. The clicking occurs even then whe door is closed and when overhead pilot light is turned on it flashes with the clikcing sound. When you put the key in the clicks slow down and when you tyurn it over they stop – then the clicking comes form the engine area. It is a constant clicking sound which when occurs the car is not operable – but only occurs occasionally. Recently it has been more and more frequent. Anyone else expereince this? If so what did you do? HELP!!

Thank you in advance!

A: sounds like a relay going. it obviously controlls something, try isolating it and unplugging it to se what then doen’t work, or check with a wiring diagram to see what it controlls

Q: What are the difference between Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo and a Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited ?
I know the trim is different, but it that it. Specifically the 2002 Grand Jeep Cherokees.

A: There are alot of upgrades on a limited. I have a computer that gives temp, direction and MPG. Some really nice aluminum cast wheels and all power accesories. Heated Mirrors and front seats are heated, auto dimmer and the list goes on. If you like that kind of stuff get it, if you don’t, don’t. They both have the same drive train.

Q: will a transfer case on a jeep cherokee fit on a grand cherokee?
I have a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee with a 4.0L it has a 231j transfer case and i wanted to know if a 231j on a 1995 Jeep Cherokee is the same?

A: Yes both transfer cases are the same. The only difference you might find is the yokes for the drive shafts. These might or might not be different.

Q: Where is the fog lamp(parking lights at the bottom of the grill) switch on a 2002 grand jeep cherokee?
I dont have the owners manual to the used 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee that i just purchased. One thing im having a problem with is trying to figure out how to turn on the factory fog lamps which are located below the front bumper. Ive tried the stem for the head lamps on the steeing wheel in every position i can think of and no luck yet….Pleeeze help

A: While I am not familiar with the dashboard controls of the Jeep, I CAN tell you how to get an owners manual.

The good news is:
Jeep has an owner resource website from which you can download FREE owners manuals

The bad news is:
The FREE ones only go back to the 2004 model year.

BUT, you can order older model year (1995-2003) books from the same site.

If i were you, I would order the 2002 manuals (you will probably want/need it anyway, right?) but I would also take advantage of the free download ….
I am sure that the location/operation of the fog-lamp switch didn’t change much between ‘02 and ‘04 …so download the ‘04 manual . That will get you the info you need quickly.

I hope this helps.!

oops , i almost forgot to post the link to the site!

http://www.jeep.com/en/owners/manuals/index.html

Q: How to Check a Grand jeep cherokee before buying??
I am looking to buy a 99 jeep grand cherokee for 7000 with 51000 miles. i was wondering what to cherck first on the truck and what to look for most common problems? also how do i make sure the 4 wheel drive is working correctly? thanks

A: First thing you should check: your head for thinking of buying such a crappy car.

Q: What causes misfiring on a jeep grand cherokee?
I’m about to buy a jeep grand cherokee but they said it misfires when first started up but it drives perfectly fine. What could this have to do with the jeep? And how much would it be to replace what needs to be fixed?

They said it might be the spark plugs.

A: Misfires are tricky things, many problems can cause them. the most common is a fouled spark plug. although a bad coil or plug wire could be the culprit too. A bad or clogged injector is another simple fix. I could also be something more complicated and labor intensive, like a bad valve or cracked piston. I’ve seen all of these cause a misfire.

Q: How is the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 in snow and bad weather?
I am thinking about buying the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8, I am aware of its amazing power and acceleration, but is it built like all the other jeeps? How is it in the snow and bad weather? And I see that its a 4×4, but is that full time or can you put it in 4×4 low? Thanks.

A: The SRT8 Grand Cherokee is AWD, not 4WD. There is no lockable 4WD mode. If all you are doing it city driving, you should have no trouble.

It does have very large, wide tires that will push the snow instead of cut thru it, but I dont think you are buying this vehicle to really drive it in mud or snow, are you.

And to the moron who said by a Ford…I would put the capabilities of a Jeep against any Ford SUV and see who gets to the top of the mountain first. JEEP = 4X4. Always has, always will.

Q: What to do Jeep Grand Cherokee vs Chrysler crossfire?
I own a 05 jeep grand cherokee I like it but I don’t like the amount it costs to fill it. My husband found a really good deal on a chrysler crossfire its an 04 and is loaded with low miles. I am considering trading it. Anyone have a crossfire or know anything about them. I know its not a good winter car but thats ok we have a 4wd vehicle.

A: If I were you, I would look into a Toyota Solara, Honda Accord coupe or Altima Coupe. The reason I say this is because they don’t cost a lot of money, they last a long time, and resale value is excellent.

The Crossfire has dismal resale value and will be nowhere near as reliable.

Check Edmunds.com for reviews on cars in that class and you’ll see what I am talking about.

Q: My Jeep 01 Grand Cherokee is having starting problems, clicking sounds and no power when you put the key in.?
I have a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee, the issue that I am having is with starting the car. Lately it isn’t getting power consistently when I try to start it. I put the key in the ignitiona nd the dash doesn’t light up and the fuse box in the car and under the hood start clicking. The dash lights will flicker and the starter wont even click. Sometimes we can get it working by pushing the shifter forward (making sure it is in park) of by puching the brake down. The dash lights up then and the car starts fine. You can drive it around and runs like normal but go and shut of the engine and I could have the issue again or it may start normal. What do yu think is wrong?

A: Check you relay, either your auto shut down relay or starter and possibly the fuel pump relay. if you have to stomp down on the brake pedal it could also be the neutral safety switch located on the transmission. also check you shifter linkage, it may not be going into park fully thats why you have to play with the shifter.

Q: my 1999 jeep grand cherokee wont start and has clicking noise?
1999 jeep grand cherokee wont start, has clicking noise while tring to start, new starter , good battery, and power to starter and power control unit. Somebody please help me.

A: Replace the starter solenoid on the inside fender well.

Q: My 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee just threw a rod, How much will it cost to fix?
How much will it cost to fix a thrown rod in a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited with 145,000 miles, 6cylinder, 4 liter. Really not familiar if you need more info. Please let me know if you do. Thanks for taking the time to help!

A: I have a jeep cherokee that has high mileage but to get it rebuilt you might be looking at a range of 3000.00 to 3500.00 to have it rebuilt.Or you could find a place that sells rebuilt one for a cheaper price. But then you also have the cost of the cost of having someone put it in also.I would think that it would be cheaper to lift the gas cap and put something else underneath of it.hgm20002000@yahoo.com

Q: My 96 Jeep Grand Cherokee will start but wont stay running?
My 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee will start fine but like 2 seconds later turns off. I had the problem like a day before and i gave it like 10 minutes and it started right up but the next day i wasn’t so lucky. Now it will start but wont stay cranked and its been like 3 days. What should i do?

A: Try changing the fuel filter first, It’s located inside of the the frame rail back by the driver’s rear tire. If that doesn’t help then you might be looking at a fuel pump, before you replace that though, you should check the fuel pressure at the fuel rail port on the engine, it should be around 40psi or so.

Q: Difference between Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo and Rocky Mountain Edition?
Hi. I’m planning on buying a Jeep Grand Cherokee soon and couldn’t decide between the Laredo and Rocky Mountain packages. I know that Rocky Mountain has some more features but was wondering whether there are any external body differences between the models. From looking at pictures, it seemed like the Rocky Mountain was a little lower to the ground than the Laredo, but I might be mistaken. Thanks in advance.

A: Rocky Mountain Edition is the luxury edition.

A great and must read article: dodge challenger

Q: Whats the difference between all Dodge Challengers?
I was looking at the Dodge challenger cars. All of them look the same why are they all at different prices?? I looked at the Dodge challenger RT 2009, SRT-8 2009, and the SE 2009 what are the differences in them?

A: I sell them, and the difference in price is the different engines. Of course, the SE is base model, it’s a V6 engine, then you have your R/T and your SRT-8, the SRT of course being the 6.1l HEMI. There aren’t alot of options on one of these, there is an upgraded tire package, the sunroof, the My GIG with Nav, these are all options. Also, keep in mind that since these are so new and alot of dealerships aren’t even getting one, they are going for above sticker alot of places.

Q: Are the new Dodge Challengers good cars?
I am thinking about getting a new Dodge Challenger R/T since I have always been a fan of the Dodge Challenger ever since I was a little kid. I have friends advising me that dodges are not good cars mechanically so I wanted to know what you guys felt about dodges. Any Help is appreciated.

A: man when you ask a question in the dodge section on a challenger people aren’t going to say its a bad car, actually its a pretty nice car to own and drive,so far that has been the car that has caused the least amount of problems and been really good on sales, and for the price of it they seem to be doing real well on it,my neighbor owns two of them and he drives them in the rain or what ever the weather is,if you want to know what people really think about them check out Edmond’s reviews on it,they give it a pretty good rating, good luck.

Q: I need a few estimates for car insurance on Dodge Challengers?
What would be the estimate for insurance on each of these cars:

2004 Dodge Challenger

2009 Dodge Challenger

I’m 16, 3.9 GPA, no criminal record or tickets.

or if you know of a site where I can get a quick estimate, please mention it.

A: You can compare how the insurance quotes would change, for example here – autoinsurance.bebto.com

Q: is the new dodge challenger supposed to take after the 70s challengers?
cause if so, i’m going to change the logos to charger logos, and put general lee decals on mine.

A: The General Lee (That noun is capitalized, son) was a Charger (about 256 of them, mostly 1968’s). Some folks are confused because the new Charger is a 4 door.

The new Challenger maintains a high degree of fidelity to the old Challenger lines, but is bigger. The similarity is strong enough that I have had several old Challenger owners ask if mine (2009) was a restored one from the 70’s.

It is your car, do what you want…but the General Lee was a Charger, here ya go, take your hat off when this plays!:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fSeUTfZk2ic

Q: How much are the new dodge Challengers going to cost and will they have a hemi available in automatic?

A: The first Challengers will be SRT-8 models with automatic transmissions, with a HEMI Orange exterior, hood stripes, and a 6.1-liter HEMI V-8 engine. The first three will be auctioned off for charity.

The Hemi engine is set for an upgrade, but it probably will not arrive in time for the Challenger. By 2009, Chrysler will have variable cam timing set up for its Hemi engines, neatly leapfrogging most variable-valve timing systems. The multiple displacement system.

The Dodge Challenger will be produced as a coupe, to arrive in dealerships in 2008 (as a 2008 model year car), and to be built on the same line as the 300, Charger, and Magnum. Chrysler assures that the production car will be practically indistinguishable from the concept. I expect a price of about $31,000.

Q: What is the best engine for the Dodge Challengers and why?
I was meaning the best preforming engine in the old challengers

A: i have to agree with johny on this one the 440 was the best engine used in them, i owned one that had a 440 in it and i use to beat a lot of hemi,s late nights on a friday and saturday nights with it,the 426 was a good high torque engine but with a good built 440 man you could literally wipe out a hemi in a good race, and im talking good old friday night drag races, the 440 was the best available big block for those car,s,and when i owned mine it was almost new,and not to many people wanted to ride with me in it,good luck.

Q: Is there a four door model of dodge challengers?
Do you have to get it custom made for four doors?

A: No, there are no four door challengers. You are probably mistaken it with the charger.

Q: Are cops going to get the new Dodge Challengers?
They had them in the 1960-70s. Are they still a good cop car?

A: i doubt they will ever get a challenger for a cop car, they do use the new chargers in some cities already, but one city i know of for sure only used the charger for one year and went back to the fords,Chrysler lost out on the cop car market once and maybe they,ll get it back, the only reason they might even use a challenger would be for a pursuit vehicle, and that’s doubtful, good luck.

Q: what do you think about the new Dodge Challengers?
I’m graduating soon and I’m getting a new car before I go to college. Do you think the R/T versions with the 5.7 hemi’s would be a good choice? Or what do you think?

A: i really like em,my neighbor bought a new one and i have drove it several times,he bought the nicest one you can get and it drives and runs as good as it looks, the only thing i hate about it is its hard to back up ,there seems to be too many blind spots in the mirrors on it,other than that its a great car,if you get a chance to test drive one do it,its a good ride to take,id go for the hemi version on it if it was going to buy one you wont be disappointed in it,good luck.

Q: are dodge challengers going to be all over the place?
at first i wanted to get a mustang GT, but then the more i looked on the street, the more i saw them.

me and my bro want to get a dodge challenger, but i want to know if theyre going to be all over the place like the mustang. on dodge’s site it says “our most popular car” on the challenger SE (the cheapest one)

ive never saw one on the road yet, but i dont want to get a car thats so popular

what do you think?

A: They will never be as bad as mustangs and camaros. The road is littered with those two. Don’t get me wrong I like them both, They are just everywhere. I love the new challenger, but in this economy I dont think there will be too many of them out there. Just wait until the new camaro comes out. There will be tons of those, trust me

Q: Who’s bought one of the new Dodge Challengers? What are they like for driving, reliability, quality etc?
I’m moving to Canada next year and I was looking at buying a Challenger

A: They are cool looking
Drove one
Bought an Infinity g37 instead

Q: Who’s bought one of the new Dodge Challengers? What are they like for driving, reliability, quality etc?
I’m moving to Canada next year and I was looking at buying a Challenger

A: So far so good with mine. It has just turned 6000 miles, and I don’t drive it like a neanderthal. Like any piece of machinery, if you treat it well, and perform maintenance on it regularly, you should enjoy many years of service.

Q: When will the new dodge challengers come in the color plam crazy?

A: At this time, there are no plans to have a Plum Crazy challenger. If you want one with a similar paint color, you could get the SMS Challenger 570. The “awesome” colors as I like to call them have been cut from the charger too. You can now only get the Daytona’s in white or hemi orange. In fact, the only color you can now get the super bee’s in is the hemi orange as well, no more Detonator yellow or B5 blue.

Here’s some info on the SMS Challenger, couple of friends of mine were at that party too and said the paint and entire car looked amazing:

http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/17/sms-570-challenger-has-a-coming-out-party/

Q: do they have the dodge challengers in a standard transmission?
i have only seen them in automatic but i would hate to drift with an automatic. thanks

A: yes the ’09s with the 5.7 and 6.1 have optional 6 speed sticks

Q: Any relatively cheap cars that look like Dodge Challengers?

A: not really, there’s not any that really look like the challenger except the camaro or a fire bird and that’s only from a distance,in the movie vanishing point the actual car that crashed in to the bull dozier was a 69 camaro, they did a little movie magic to fool people but most people didn’t even notice it,from a long distance the camaro was often mistaken for a challenger, good luck.

A great and must read article: ford ranger for sale

Q: Do ford rangers with a v-6 engine possible come with a 5 speed manual transmission?
My son has a 1995 ford ranger 4 cyl engine with a 5 speed manual transmission and wanted to put it either a v-6 engine or find a ford ranger with a v-6 manual transmission, so do ford rangers with v-6 engines come with manual transmissions?

A: NOPE

Q: EFI Ford Rangers what year did they start?
Easy 10pts for most complete answer :

In what year did Ford start putting EFI in their 4-cylinder Rangers ?

Thanks

A: it would appear 1987 as 1986 is the last year for carb model reference for the ranger. this applied to the 2.0 and 2.3 liter engines.

Q: Ford Rangers?
ok so i took my boyfriends truck around the parking lot at lunch today, while he was gone and now it won’t shift out of second, WHAT’S WRONG WITH IT? and did i do it

A: Park the Truck back where it was and play like you not know what could have happened. Start asking him; “What did you do, that may have messed it up”?
AND, after it sit, it may be OK.

Q: How to extend ford rangers wheels out the sides.?
What can i do to make my ford ranger front wheels extend out the sides.

A: wheel spacers with longer studs or studded spacers is one way, positive offset rims would be best choice (no spacers or stud changes to do that) .
It would be best to check the local laws for how much open wheel is allowed past the wheel well area .You may be required to cover the distance with wheel well flares.
Positive offset rims allow the same tires to be used, the center of the rim is mounted more to the rear or deeper in the rim to bring the tire & rim further out .
The use of these will change your turning radius in front and may cause body contact back of wheel near door and fender or nearer to frame horn at front, bumper lower spoiler, and Wheel well areas .
It has the same effect as wider wheels and tires do but at a lesser cost .

Q: Can I cut my 94 ford rangers hydraulic line?
I’m in the process of replacing my 94 ford ranger clutch. I have the transmission laying on the ground but i cant get the hydraulic line off, It’s very corroded on.

Is the Line under pressure? is it safe to cut?

A: The line is only under pressure when the clutch pedal is depressed.
Can’t you just remove the slave cylinder?

Q: What do people think about the Ford Rangers?
I am looking in to buying a Ford Ranger the model’s from 2006-2008. What do you think about them..any good? I will need it more for just road driving. And a little towing not much. So is it worth the money?

A: I work at a ford dealership and right now the ranger is our top seller. The ranger is being discontinued at the end of the model year, but in 2010 you will be able to get the world ranger which is a 4 door version. The ranger is definately worth your money. They are extremely reliable. We hardly see any in for repairs.

Q: what year ford rangers have the same engines?
I have a 1984 ford ranger, what year engines will fit it?

A: 2.0 L OHC I4
2.2 L Perkins 4.135 Diesel I4
2.3 L OHC I4
2.3 L Mitsubishi 4D55 Turbodiesel I4
2.8 L Cologne V6
2.9 L Cologne V6

The best engine is the 2.3 OHC with a turbocharger from the 84-88 Thunderbird.. these can modded up to make over 300 hp..

Q: Do new Ford Rangers do as good on gas as older Rangers?
My old 1995 Ford Ranger with over 200,000 miles and a 4 cyl 2.3 liter engine gets around 25-27 mpg. I ask because it has 112 horsepower while newer 4 cyl Rangers have a slightly larger 2.3 liter engine at 143 horsepower.

I’m a freak when it comes to saving at the pump, but I can’t stand driving little 4 cyl cars.

A: It sounds like you are doing pretty good already. I have got a 1988 Ford Ranger V6 2.9L and I get 18-21 mpg. I wish I could get your gas mileage.

Q: I just recently seen the crew cab Ford Rangers offered overseas and was blown away(Please read details)?
I just recently seen the new crew cab Ford Rangers offered overseas and was blown away. They look like a kick a** truck and I really like the new design. Does anyone know why Ford isn’t selling them over here in the United States?

A: 1: Looking back, a four door Ranger would have been in direct competion with the Sport Trac.
2: Going forward, the Ranger is being discontinued in the States.

Q: My 1992 ford rangers radiator hose coming from the block back to the radiator is collapsing, what could cause?
When the truck is running and gets hot, the radiator hose from the block to the radiator on top, it seems to be collapsing or sucking and acting like it is clogged somewhere. What could this be?
If it is the hose, will it hurt anything to leave it on for a day or so? Plus I just topped it off with coolant.

A: thats ok if it is cold shouldent do that hot

Q: What would be the best way to increase a ford Rangers hauling capacity?
upgrade or switch out suspension, add a duallie rearend, beef up frame maybe all of the above how much difference could you make?

A: You can make quite a difference with all the above. It just depends on how much you’re willing to spend.

Don’t forget that when you increase the payload mass, you’ll probably also have to look at increasing the engine/trans horsepower, engine/trans mounts and frame attachments and the propshaft.

When you’re done figuring how much this will cost and the time to do it right, you may consider a used Silverado or F150…

Q: What refrigerant was used in 1998 Ford Rangers?
With summer approaching, I’m considering recharging my air conditioning with R134A, but I’m not positive that is what my truck used originally. The AC has been out for a couple of years now so I’ll probably have to check all the seals, etc. Any advice on what to keep my eye out for and what the proper refrigerant would be is appreciated. Thanks.

A: r134a refrigerant fittings only fits onto systems that use it.

Q: Why has my ford rangers mileage dropped so much?
Back when i got the truck like 3 months ago, it got like 20-21 mpg. Now im lucky to get 16 mpg. Is there a module that i could put on it to improve mileage, or is there any kind of fluid i can put into the gas tank to improve mileage.

A: the most common reason for poor gas mileage in an otherwise healthy vehicle is a dirty air filter.

Q: What kind of gas mileage do newer 2.3L Ford Rangers get? ?
I’m talking about the newer ‘03 and later automatic 2.3L Rangers with the 4 cylinder engine. My old ‘95 Ranger gets about 22 mpg highway and I’d like to upgrade to a newer model, but only if it gets better mileage like in the 25-26 mpg range.

A: The ‘03 with manual will get 21 mpg / 26 mpg
The ‘03 with automatic will get 20 mpg / 25 mpg

http://www.edmunds.com/used/2003/ford/ranger/100076612/specs.html

So, when are you going to upgrade?

Q: Why do some ford rangers have sideways back seats?
Also, can you move them to face forwards? Is this a package of some sort, or is their a name for this type of seating? Is it for a specific model or anything? Any details on it could help.

A: Ranger isn’t big enough for 4 forward facing seats, you’d literally have to have no legs. To fix that, Ford’s rather ingenious solution is to place the seats sideways.

Ranger is available in Regular Cab, the front seat only model, and Super Cab in both 2 and 4 door varieties. Super Cab Rangers are available with the jumpseats.

A great and must read article: 67 mustang

Q: 1967 Mustang?
I want to get this Mustang for my 17 birthday for my first car, but its tough and rusty and doesn’t exacly run. It won’t take to much to get her running. He is asking for 1500 to 2000$ should I get it.

A: nice cars and i have owned two 67 fastbacks, if its got the 289 V8 in it then i would get it but then that’s what i do for a living, and if its got the 200 6banger then i would think a few before buying it, but then again that’s what i do for a living so i would end up buying it.
the places to look on those cars for rust that’s going to cost you big, is just in front of the doors where the firewall and the floor pan meet, the floor boards both front and back and in the trunk where the bumper supports are, those are the places that they rust the most and that will cost you the most to fix, parts for that car are real easy to get and they are repopping them off like crazy, NPD ( national parts depot ) and ( year one ) have all most every thing you could ever look for on that car.
i have gotten lots of parts from NPD there phone number is 1-800-368-6451 ask them to send you one of there free catalogs on mustangs they handle stangs from 1965 to 1973, and i mean they have everything if you have the dog post and the roof pan then they have everything else and cheap as hell.

Q: Is it possible to make my 1967 mustang a fastback?
I want to take my 1967 mustang and turn it into a Shelby. But the 1967 Shelbys were fastbacks.

So is it possible to possibly cut and weld (followed by grinding and everything else) a fast back onto it?

A: Kits for this conversion are available, but when considering the kit and the required labor, I have to seriously wonder if the means justify the end.
Why not simply try and find a fast back to begin your Shelby clone with?
Check out: www.coupetofastback.com/index.htm

Q: 1967 Mustang 289 swap a three speed manual for a c4 auto?
The car is a 1967 Mustang 289 V8. What I want to do is swap out the the three speed manual transmission for a c4 automatic transmission. What I need to know:
1.Has anyone done something similar to this with success(whats your advice and is it worth it)?
2.List of all exact parts I will need to make this work?
3.How hard is it, will it need any extreme modifications?
4.Any reccommendations?

Thanks for the help.

A: I did it with my 71 Mustang, went from a 3-speed to a C4.
Regardless of what people tell you, what I DIDN’T need to change is:
- Drive shaft
- Starter
- Speedo Gear

Everything is a unbolt, boltup replacement — no cutting or anything radical.

I had to change my radiator since the one I had didn’t have the transmission cooler built in – I had a 6-cyl.
Running the transmission cooler lines were tricky since I received them all bent up.
Changing the brake pedal was easier than I thought, changed the whole support base.
Wiring for the reverse switch plugged right into the harness.
Had to change the Carb linkage to accept the kick down rod. getting it tweeked right took a little time.
Need to add a vacuum line to the transmission modulator.
Replaced the transmission mount.
Replacing the shifter was a breeze.
Pulling the flywheel off for the flex plate wasn’t too hard, remember to pull out the pilot bearing from the rear of the crank shaft. Make sure you have the right size flex plate for your engine/starter, I sized mine with the flywheel.

I did the whole thiing on a weekend.

Make SURE you replace the front and rear seals in your C4 before you install it, they need to be fresh when you install it.

Q: What do I need to do to get seat belts put in my 1967 Mustang and how much would it cost?
I just turned 17 and bought my first car which is a newly restored 1967 Ford Mustang 390 Auto big block. I’m in love with it. The only problem: no seat belts. I’ve talked to some people and heard that there’s different ways to install seat belts, but you can’t always do it. What would be the best way for my car and how much would it cost me?

A: Don’t go with the harness unless you have a roll bar. Improper installation of racing harness will only cause more serious injuries. Search ’spinal compression and racing harness’. Besides with old stock bucket seats, the straps will slide off or you sliding with the straps. You won’t be able to reach the radio or the heater/vent/etc

I installed modern seats and a shoulder belt mounted onto the seat like what a convertible car has in my 65 Mustang. Got the seat belts from a wrecking yard.

Q: Looking for a good book that will help me rebuild my 1967 mustang?
Looking for a good book that will help me rebuild my 1967 mustang coupe…Other books have black and white pictures and its not that clear. I need a book that has color pictures and its clear and shows me everything step by step and the instructions are simple and clear. Tells me all the parts i need to get and where i should get them. Does anybody have any idea on any good books out there?

A: check out your local book store, then see if you can find it cheaper on amazon.com

Join our group and ask the members what their favorite book is

Q: How much is a Junker 1967 mustang or Camaro?
I have a part time job and go to college but i want to buy a P.O.S 1967 Mustang or Camaro to fix up and fully restore on my own time. But i only have a few Grand. how much would it go for? it can be shiitty everything but i want the engine to run.

A: A few grand…

Q: 1967 mustang safe to drive around and safe during an accident?
im thinking of buying a 1967 mustang and i want to know how it holds up in an accident. i found a really good deal and the only thing holding me back is my concern for the saftey of me and the people i drive around.

A: LOL. Nothing but lap belts were required back then. No side impact bars in the doors, metal everywhere, no crumple zones; no it won’t be safe in a serious crash.

Q: How to make a 1967 mustang do a wheelie?
Does anyone know what kind of Equipment i will need to make a 1967 mustang do a wheelie i know i will need a gasket scoop for more power and probably install a nox tank for more power and im goin to need a bar behind the car does anyone know what kind of equiptment i will need to make my mustang do a wheelie thx and also it has about 500hp thx =]

A: put the engine in the trunk..

Q: I need help with my 1967 Mustang. How to make sure it has a long life.?
I am getting a 1967 Mustang Hardtop. And I was wondering if there’s anything I should keep in mind to make sure that it has a long life. Yeah I know the obvious stuff like oil changes, and switching park plugs. But is there something that I might not know of and could have a significant impact on how long my car survives?.

A: all that has been said is good but conserving a classic is harder than a new vehicle.
keep the cowl (the vents in front of the windshield) covered. and if it looks like rain is coming cover to keep the water out. fist generation mustangs are notorious for developing rust in that area.
that being said fix rust when you find it. and fix it right dont use bondo (although bondo today is many time better than the old school one it still should not be used as a crutch) save up some money and buy replacement sheet metal from a place like National Parts Depot. make sure the suspension is well greased at all times. buy a “Sacrificial Anode” radiator cap and install it. its a radiator cap that has a zinc compound that absorbs corrosion in the cooling system. many will say its not worth it and to jsut keep the coolant system in decent shape. but if you can spare the money go for it.

Q: 1967 mustang wont start, but the lights etc work but starter wont crank help?
1967 mustang 6cyl

A: Check the terminals on your “starter relay” which is bolted to the inner fender passenger side. Unscrew the nuts on both sides and clean the screws. Insure that your battery cables are in good shape, and that your battery’s terminals are clean. There is no such thing as a “solenoid” in a 67 Mustang. A solenoid was a part that was attached directly to the starter in the 40’s and 50’s. People calling a starter relay a solenoid don’t know jack. In all likelihood, your starter relay needs replacement. Their life – span never was great. They are cheap to buy. ////// EDIT: I don’t care how many mechanics or parts warehouses call it a solenoid, it is the WRONG terminology. It is a starter relay. Ford AND AMC both call it a starter relay. A solenoid is round and the size of a beer can and is attached directly to the starter. A starter relay is a small round part with a square base on the inner fender well. Get a manual showing the schematic difference between a solenoid and a starter relay and you will see that indeed your Mustang has a starter relay, NOT a solenoid. Comparing a big boat 64 Galaxie to a 67 Mustang is like comparing black with green. I own a 68 Mustang. My Mustang has a starter relay, and so does yours. When I need to replace it, I go to a parts store and say: “I need a starter relay for a 68 Mustang small block” and they know exactly what I mean. They don’t say: “Oh, you mean a solenoid?” R & R your starter relay and replace both battery cables and she WILL start. Trying to “jump – start” your Mustang with booster cables ain’t going to accomplish anything if your starter relay is shot. Period.

Q: who knows where to by a 1967 for mustang motor?
I want to buy a 1967 mustang motor….where can I get one? and new or used is fine, I just need a well working motor….and how much do they go for? I got this for my 16th birthday…so i really wanna get it fixed up its a project I am looking forward to,

10 points whoever gives best answer. please help!

A: Here ya’ go…

http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/pts/864458378.html

Q: Original interior wiring harness for a 1967 mustang coupe?
I am looking for a interior wiring harness that won’t cost me a fortune. Dallas Mustang is selling it for $620 and that is too much. Can someone please tell me any one who might be selling the original interior wiring harness for a 1967 mustang for less that $620. Thanks

A: There is more than one wiring harness.

Year One sell a dash harness for about $485. An instrument cluster harness for about $160.

You need to get used to the fact that replacement parts for a classic car are expensive. This is especially true if you are looking for OEM style parts.

It is fortunate that you can even find parts so plentiful for a classic car. Be thankful that you are not tryig to find parts for something like a Rambler American or a 64 Chrysler 300.

Q: 1967 mustang!!?
I am looking for one. I want one so bad but have limited finances. I am too young to get a loan and only have about 3,000 dollars to work with. Does anybody have any cars available or any advice in buying or looking for a car. I have never done this before. P.S. This car has to run. I have to be able to drive it, so I can’t really work with a complete project car. Please help my dream come true!!!
I know it will be difficult to find what i am looking for. I don’t want it to be perfect. And I expect to have to do something with it. I would just like it to be able to run and die on me the first day. I am asking in order to find tips on finding a mustang.

A: Not going to happen, unless you get extremely lucky. It is very unlikely you will find a road worthy 67 Mustang for this price.

Kind of crappy, drivable ones go for about twice that. A decent one will be at least 8 to 10 thousand. A nice one will be at least 20 thousand.

Unlikely you will get a loan for a car like this. Keep saving your money until you get enough to buy one.

Check eBay Motors for a 67 Mustang. They currently have 66 of them listed. You can see what they are selling for.

A: Why not go find yourself a donor fox body mustang? The 302 will drop right in and you can steal all the electronics and the harness and enjoy the beauties of fuel injeciton. Try Autozone. The go through Craigslist. I just looked and saw a few in Houston. Any engine shop can get you one. Try www.speedomotive.com if you want something with pep.

Q: 1967 Mustang ?
Im most likely buying this one i found one craigslist, and its got some rust here and there how do you go about fixing that, do you have to buy an all new hood and parts or can u get it off? thanks!!

Q: What is the difference between a Toyota Tacoma Prerunner and a Toyota Tacoma?
The prerunner is lifted and has a few other details, but is there any difference between the two in the cab or anything? Can you make a tacoma into a prerunner easily?

A: Prerunner models are all 2 Wheel Drive but have the ride height and suspension of the 4WD model. They’re a waste of money.

Q: How much days can a Tacoma student miss school?
I’m in high school and planning to miss school for about a week. The problem is i already missed it for some days. Is there a limit to how much days a tacoma high schooler can miss?

A: No! But you will have to catch up in alot of work! Don’t miss school! You may get suspended! This may go on your permanent record if you miss more then six days in a row!

Q: What speaker sizes fit in a 2008 toyota tacoma 4×2 access cab?
Is the front speakers 6×9 and the back 6 and a half? I was looking at crutchfield, and they say that 6×9 is not compatible for a tacoma. Anyone have any experience with tacoma audio?

A: I never cared much for Crutchfields info. They are not always accurate. They are more interested in making the sell.
Go to www.metraonline.com
Enter your info in the what fits my vehicle section. They will show you everything you need including kit and harness’. Sometimes you have to make slight modifications to the mounting locations considering the factory has their speakers made for their vehicles and aftermarkets are universal fit but the size is right.

Q: Who is a good realtor in tacoma washington for military buyers?
I am moving to Fort Lewis very soon and would like to buy a house in the Tacoma, Spanaway, Puyallup area? We are planning on using a VA loan to purchase the house, so a military friendly realtor near fort lewis is what we REALLY need. Any past buyers with good experiences out there?

A: Just about any that work at John L. Scott, Windermere, Century 21 in that area should be well versed in the VA home buying process since it is so close to Fort Lewis. I’m more partial to John L. Scott, but then I work there ; )

You might browse their wesbites & look at agent profiles to see if any specialize in just that field.

Q: What is the difference between a Toyota Tacoma sr5 and prerunner?
What is the difference between a tacoma sr5 and a prerunner? I’ve seen a few very different looking tacomas, and there is one I like but don’t know what exactly it is. Pretty much any information about these trucks would be appreciated.

A: Hi,

for Toyota, the SR5 designation is a certain level of trim which varies somewhat depending on which vehicle it is on and what model year the vehicle is (the Tacoma is one of the vehicles Toyota offers the SR5 trim on, the Tundra would be one of the others).

Usually, SR5 includes options such as power windows and locks, keyless entry, cruise control air conditioning, single CD player and some type of upgraded interior. There may also be additional body moldings and those may be in color and a different rim/tire combination.

A PreRunner simply means the Tacoma has a 6 cylinder engine, but it is only rear-wheel drive.

PreRunners are not 4WD and are not available with a 4 cylinder engine.

The PreRunner will have a larger tire/rim combination like a 4WD model.

Prerunners usually have an SR5 trim package and may come in regular or extended cab configurations, depending on the model year.

Prerunners are easily identified by the Prerunner badging on the tailgate, or if that has been removed, by the absence of a 4WD shifter/turn dial in the interior of the cab.

A Tacoma may have the SR5 trim and may be a regular or extended cab, but be a 4 cylinder, 2WD or 4WD model.

If you have any other questions, contact me directly here at Answers.

Q: How much would it cost to get toyota tacoma completely fitted out approximately?
Might be getting a toyota tacoma 1997-2003, 4×4, with extended cab. How much would it cost to get it completely fitted out im talkin 3 inc lift, swamper tires, winch, toolbox, all the good stuff. Even if i got everything the cheapest i could give me an approximate.(also i would like more suggestions for wat to get those are just things off the top of my head.

A: You should probably check the frame to make sure it’s not rusting in half like Tacoma’s do, before you go getting it “outfitted” with “swamper tires” and a lift kit.

Q: What are the best modifications for a 99 toyota tacoma?
I just bought a ‘99 Toyota Tacoma with the TRD package. Can anyone tell me what some good modifications are as far as air intakes, headers, etc.? I’m especially looking for people who have already done these modifications and what kind of gains they got from them.

A: I don’t have a Tacoma but I had a T-100 and I have a 2001 Tundra that I bought new, Both of these trucks were used to deliver Mail I put the equivalent of 380,000 miles on the T-100 and then I bought the Tundra and I put the equivalent 500,000 miles on it. These are not real mills but are taken from a clock in either case both vehicles were operated for under $1000 for a 4 year period of time each, before them I drove Fords and my cost of keeping them on the road was between $12,000 and $18,000 for a like amount of time only not going as far, more like 340,000 for the four year time frame. It is yours and your choice but if I was you I would keep it just the way it is. I drove 24 new Fords before I bought my first Toyota and now I wouldn’t let you park one in my drive way.

Edit note; I wish that Fords were near as good but I am sorry they just aren’t, I counted on my truck to earn a living

Q: What is the best car seat for the Toyota Tacoma extended cab truck?
My husband has a Tacoma and we are looking to buy a second carseat, a rear facing/non carrier carseat, for his truck. Which has the smaller backseat. I currently have the Britax Diplomat in my car and love it but it seems to take up a lot of space in my car, so I’m not so sure it will work so great in his truck. Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions as to what carseats to are best as far as safety and fit for such a small space.

A: let check bestseller at amazon web site from below link..i hope this may help

http://www.amazon.com/gp/bestsellers/baby-products/1272297011/ref=pd_nr_ba_mte&tag=ukgm-20

Q: What are some community services that teens can do in Tacoma or University Place, and what are the locations?
What specific community services can teens do in Tacoma, Washington and where in the cities are they held? When are they?
What do you do in them? How many hours is it? What do you do in order to sign up to participate in the community services? Can you do it with your MESA team?

A: if you don’t get any good answers here on this forum, I would suggest joining this Yahoo group, called Tacoma Pierce Resources …….. there may already be something on there you are looking for, or you can email the moderators or post your question to people who live in Pierce County.

TacomaPierceResources-subscribe@yahoogroups.com

Q: What can I do to advertise my business in the Tacoma and Seattle area that really works on a small budget?
I have three business locations in Tacoma and Seattle, WA and I need to stay ahead of the competition. I’ve tried radio, newspapers and direct mail (ValPak and MoneyMailer) but they are ridiculously expensive for the few customers each has directed to me so I want to try something new. Is there anything better out there?

A: How about running coupons on the back of the register tapes in your local grocery store? I am actually the Tacoma rep for a company that works with all of the Safeways in the Puget Sound. This form of advertising really works at getting more customers through your door, and it doesn’t cost nearly the price of traditional media. I have numerous clients who are redeeming 10-15 coupons a day with our program. Definitely consider this form of advertising. It gets new customers into your store and existing customers into your store more often. Email me if you would like more info. Good luck!

Q: How can I make a 2002 tacoma go fast?
I have a 3.4L 2002 4door toyota tacoma, I want to make it go very fast, i put K&N cold-air intake on it but i dont notice much of a difference other than my check engine light is now on all the time. I have about a 500 dollar/month budget. So i can’t get everything at once probably.

A: First clean your MAF. It’s probably full of oil.

Then do some research on supercharging your Tacoma.
Here is a good place to start http://www.urdusa.com/

Q: What is the best place to buy used cordless drill in Tacoma?
We want to buy cordless drill and we know new ones cost at least $50 or more so we want to buy used one ..can you suggest what is the reliable and cost effective place in Tacoma WA to buy it?

A: pawn shops like Cash Converters.

A lot of trades people will sell their equipment to pawn shops when they need money

Q: How do I get anywhere with a complaint against a Toyota Tacoma rusty frame?
My 2005 Toyota Tacoma with 55k miles has a rusty looking frame. It is not rusted through, just really ugly start for a 3-4 year old truck. I called Toyota and checked for recall with my Vin# and nothing was recalled. They told me to go to a dealer and have them check it out. Any advice on what I can do in adition to this?

A: Go to a dealer and have them check it out.

Q: How do I find out more about public transportation in Tacoma, Washington?
My little sister moved to Tacoma for college and it’s a state I’ve never visited. She wont have a car and is living off campus with her boyfriend. He says he will be able to drive her but I think it’s good to have a backup plan- just in case. How do I find bus routes for Tacoma online? Are the buses reliable there? How much does it cost?

A: I’ve been taking Pierce Transit buses for about 5 years now, I’d say they’re pretty reliable, usually good about being on time. The current fare for adults is $1.75, or $63 for a one month pass.

All the route information is on http://www.piercetransit.org/, like the person above said.

Q: what is the best combination for a sound system in a toyota tacoma truck?
Im getting a toyota tacoma, and im wanting to put a sound system in it, with good quality sound. Im wondering what type and what size speakers i should get and what amp to go along with it?

A: If you’re new to car audio, you probably dont know something that you should. JL Audio makes the best of everything. Speakers, amps, subs, crossovers, EVERYTHING. It all depends on how much you want to spend.

I’d go with some nice 10″ subs to go underneath the seats or behind the rear seats. JL w3s are VERY good speakers. You could get a nice $150 alpine deck and a kenwood amp for around $500 total.

email me with questions
good luck

A great and must read article: <a href="http://www.motorlogy.com/tag/dodge/1970 dodge challenger

Q: Does the 70 dodge challenger have a window frame?
After thinking about Deathproof, i wondered if the challenger really had a frame around the window (if the window is down, you still see the shape). at first i didnt think much of it, but i realized most muscle cars didnt and the doors ive seen are frameless.

A: I own a 1971 Challenger and am caretaker for my two daughter’s 1970 Challenger R/T’s (formerly mine) and they “do not” have a window frame around the door windows, the rear quarter window does have a chrome metal guide with a felt covered recess for the rear edge of the front window to rest in. I read and was told that 1970 Challenger “coupes”, of which I’ve never seen one, not saying they were never made, I’ve just never seen one, had “fixed” quarter windows with the same appearance.

Q: What do you think of the new Dodge Challenger vs the Old 70’s one?
So now that the new Challengers are out ( Yes I have see and even touched one) What would you rate them compared to the 70’s challengers?

A: I had a chance to see likely 30 or so at the Chrysler’s at Carlisle show this year

I did not drive one

I will say every one with the orange paint had (what seemed to be) a really horrid paint job – they had grey, black red, blue, and silver and they looked fab (esp the black)

I do agree that they are overweight – I would have liked to seen one offered without the following items – Air, Power steering, radio, all the electronic do-dads

This will not stop me from buying one

I would not compare them to the 70’s challengers – they are really different cars

Q: Can you change a ‘73 dodge challenger to look like a ‘70 challenger?

A: yes if you did enough work to it but like the above answer said what would be the point, id just as soon have a 73 rt/se as i would a 70 model, those are rare cars if you can find one,the 70 wasn’t the greatest car ever built,we need to all realize that,73 had a great looking body on them just weak and under powered engine, good luck.

Q: Dodge Charger or Dodge Challenger? (70’s models)?

A: i like the 60’s chargers better than the 70’s …but the dart’s were better yet

Q: Where can u buy a ’70’s dodge challenger for cheap?

A: their are no cheap ones left,my neighbor is going to sell his that he bought brand new and he,s asking 110 grand for it,you wont find no cheap challenger for sale now, good luck.

Q: 1969-70 Dodge Charger/Challenger for sale?
Does anybody on here have one of these cars for sale in the Midwest that’s not outrageously expensive? It doesn’t need an engine, transmission, or good paint. I’m looking for a project car, but with interior (seats, seat belts, etc.) and it has to be for a few hundred, maybe a couple thousand, but that would push it a little.

A: Is this close enough? I know it’s more than your budget and it’s a Plymouth but…

http://lasalle.craigslist.org/cto/1700398137.html

Q: how to fix up a 1970 dodge challenger r/t?
hi i have two questions first question is how can i tune up my 70 challenger r/t to be mean enough to perform in races…and my second question is should i sell my challenger for the 2009 challenger?

A: Are you kidding me?!?! You would adulterate a 70’s Challenger just to have it trashed on the track?!?! Look if the car is not in that great of shape (Lots of rust and I mean a lot of rust) pull the motor, have it bored .60 over, put a 12.1 piston kit in it, Deck the heads and install the roller rocker and lifter kit, put in a purple shaft. Port and polish the heads, toss in a dual tunnel ram intake with 2, 800 Hollies, turn the crank out and if possible locate a steel crank to plop in it. (The steel cranks will offer higher RPM’s and are lighter then the cast-iron cranks) Balance and blue print the whole show. To back it up with a 727 performance shift kit and use the RV clutch packs. They are heavy duty and will haul that old lady down the track with out a single hiccup. Once you have squared off that toss in the 8 3/4 rear sure grip. Add a pinion snubber with an aluminum drive shaft and you have a serious road rocket. With this set up there is no reason why you shouldn’t turn a cool 11.5 in the quarter. Again this is only if the body of the car is junk. If she still looks sweet. I would not touch it and I would keep her as a daily driver. Maybe spend the money to have the motor and transmission rebuilt. And clean up the exterior and interior a bit. You do that and with a few shows you’ll have people making you insane offers.

Q: Dodge Challenger 08?
Are they still coming out with the dodge challenger 08 model??? I was wondering because I have enough money to buy 1. Last time I heard it was still coming out. I have a 70 Challenger. I want to see what is different about the two cars. Anyways ARE THEY STILL COMING OUT WITH THE 08 CHALLENGER????
That’s what I am going to do. Race them I had to sacrificed cubic inches to get a manual transmission. But I want to see if it still lives up to its name.

A: Here is the countdown web page

http://www.dodgechallengercountdown.com/

Q: What cars look like a 1970 Dodge Challenger?
‘70 seems to cost too much.
Any other makes/models.
Does not have to be strictly dodge.
Any suggestions are appreciated.
NOT the new challenger
>.>
Just cars that look VERY similar to the challenger.:D

A: 1965 gto or a new challenger

Q: 1970 challenger 340/six pack or 1970 plymouth barracuda?
i’ve been interested in the ‘70 dodge challenger 340 six pack and the ‘70 plymouth barracuda, i’m wondering which one would be worth restoring and turning into a sleeper. also which color challengers are popular among collectors.

A: Good luck finding one! They are both pretty similar. I`d go with the Challenger though. They are gonna be even more popular when the new Challenger premiers next year!

Q: Muscle cars chevy dodge 70’s?
What do yall think about the 1970 dodge challenger r/t vs the 69 chevy camaro? What are the pros and cons of both vehicles? powerwise too.

A: The Challenger R/T is slightly rarer and consequently will be more expensive. About $30,000-$40,000+ for a decent example regardless of options.

A nice, non original ‘69 Camaro can be found with just about any Chevy small block or big block for $20,000-$25,000.

The Camaros are more commonly found with engine performance upgrades than the Challenger. Mopar guys are generally more purists than Chevy guys.

Even a Challenger with a stock 440 Magnum is a really powerful car! They’ve got 375 horsepower and a stump pulling 480lb ft of torque right out of the factory. But it is common to find ‘69 Camaros with really nasty small blocks like 355s, 383 strokers, and even 400s. Some guys even put 454 big blocks in them(which they never cam with), and once and a while you’ll find one with a 396.

Q: What is your most disireable car ever?
What kind of car do youlike or have or want to have ?

I love the muscle cars. So I am all in that game.

69 – 73 Mustang
67 – 70 and 79 Camaro.
70 Dodge Challenger
70 – 73 Plymouth Cuda
70 Roadrunner

And plenty more. whats yours?

A: I rather fancy this BRUISER. Retro body with a modern chassis and BMW V12 running gear. S3 A Bentley.

http://www.zcars.com.au/images/bentley-s3-e-design-concept1.jpg

I just purchased a 1958 Jaguar XK150 Roadster. It’s a nice car too. The link does not show my car but it’s close.

http://www.vea.qc.ca/vea/v/jag15059.jpg

1960 DB4GT Astom Martin Zagato would be nice in the garage.

http://www.seriouswheels.com/pics-1960-1969/1960-Aston-Martin-DB4GT-Zagato.jpg

And the absolute ultimate road car. A Ferrari 250 GTO.

Q: dodge challenger….?
hey im turning 16 and i want a dodge challenger… i was wondering would a 70’s model be cheaper than a new one and which one has lower insurance

A: Wow, aiming high eh?
You’d likely have to buy a rust bucket that does not run, then fix it yourself. Otherwise you are looking at $20,000+ for an old car in not-so-great shape. Challengers weren’t made for many years in high volume, like say a ’60s Mustang. You can find a good running ’60s ’stang for $5000. Challenger? Not so much….
Either will have high insurance on a 16 year old male, but probably the new one would be higher simply due to what the company shows as its value.

Q: What is the song on the new 2008 dodge challenger ad?
the ad i’m talking about has an 70 plum crazy challenger at a stop light and a08 pulls up next to him, the lyrics kinda sound like “blown away let the ocean take you…”
the ad i’m talking about has an 70 plum crazy challenger at a stop light and a08 pulls up next to him, the lyrics kinda sound like “blown away let the ocean take you…

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DEGkmYm6yAY
it’s not daughtry or get blown away, it’s pretty fast paced and more rockish i placed a link above

A: I haven’t seen the ad yet. I just ordered my new 08 today I’m very excited to get it, they predict the end of Jan. first of Feb.

Q: Does anyone know when will Dodge release the Challenger?
They are supposed to resurrect this vehicle from the 70’s

A: Im thinking the previous answers incorrect. Maybe seeing a charger. Release date is between 2008-2009. Around the same time Chevrolet releases the new camaro.

What Edmunds.com Says: With few design changes from concept to production, this Challenger should be just as popular as the original when it goes on sale in 2008.

What We Know: The concept vehicle was inspired by the 1970 Dodge Challenger, a companion to the Plymouth Barracuda and one of the last of Detroit’s original muscle cars. In its heyday, Challenger went toe-to-toe with the Chevrolet Camaro and the Ford Mustang — a battle that is sure to be reenacted with the latter-day Mustang and the just-as-eagerly awaited reincarnation of the Chevy Camaro. While Chrysler declined to reveal many more details after announcing production of the popular concept, it is expected that the production ‘08 Challenger will be built on a shortened version of the rear-wheel-drive LX platform that underpins the Dodge Charger and the Chrysler 300. A Hemi V8 will be stuffed under the hood, and there is almost certain to be a performance-oriented SRT8 edition with a large-displacement, high-output Hemi.
